Located in downtown Reno, the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is the largest performing arts facility in northern Nevada. This 1,500-seat proscenium theater opened in 1968 and has operated continuously as a performing arts center for the past 51 years. The facility is home to the area’s most prominent performing arts organizations, including Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, A.V.A. Ballet Theatre, and Artown. It also serves as a venue for other arts groups, ranging from local dance recitals to international symphony tours. In addition, PCPA presents the “Broadway Comes to Reno” series, now celebrating its 25th anniversary of bringing touring Broadway musicals to northern Nevada. The lower level of the Pioneer Center features a 175-seat theater called the Pioneer Underground, which is home to Reno-Tahoe Comedy. Pioneer Center Youth Programs (PCYP) is the educational outreach division of PCPA. PCYP presents live performing arts programs in elementary schools and public libraries within a 150-mile radius of Reno. Offerings include dance, music, puppetry, magic, theater, storytelling, and more. Over the last 52 years, more than one million children have been served by our programs.
